I remind myself that the vast majority of current Christendom rejects the finished work of the Savior (and such ideas are encroaching into the minority). Many of these populist figures align themselves with Christianity while embracing the religionsts, sacramentalists, virtue signalers, and the gospel of self-righteousness.
We have to remember when scripture speaks of the flesh, it is not only the overt acts of wickedness that result, but also things like "false humility" and the mixing of the works of our hands with the precious blood of our Great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
There will come a false Christ, preaching a false gospel of righteousness.
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Pronography may enslave people, but it will not fool men into thinking they are right with God. However, a false gospel of pleasing God by the works of the flesh will deceive many. The lie has always been built on Satan's false promise, "ye shall be as gods." The way of Cain is with us still (those who bring the sacrifice of the works of the flesh to God, demanding he accept it). These hate the way of Abel who bring "a more excellent" sacrifice" of Christ's perfect blood sacrifice and resurrection alone, accepted by faith alone, relying on grace alone.
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous
The flesh hates the gospel of grace for it can find no glory in it.
Yes, the Anti-Christ will come in the cloak of religious righteousness; a mix of grace and works which is an abomination. Even if you hold to a "Beast system" instead of a "Beast man," the same will be true. We are the remnant.
Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
